The second trophy is the CMP’s Soldier of Marathon Trophy awarded to the best scoring 6-person civilian team.  Their score of 2095-85X gave them a repeat win after capturing this trophy in 2011.  It's the sixth time it’s been taken by an Illinois team.

The 2012 Illinois Regional Championship was held on July 28 just prior to Camp Perry.

Leading up to Camp Perry, Jared Perry took the Gold Regional Medal in the 2012 Illinois Regional Championship.  He is pictured here being presented his medal by Konrad Powers and with his target .  He also won a match upper (pictured) donated by White Oak Armament.  Great shooting Jared!

In the same match the Silver Regional Medal was won by Bob Gill and the Bronze by Bill Besgrove.

Complete match results are on the ISRA website here.

On Sunday, June 10, 2012, I earned my last leg points required for the Distinguished Riflemen Badge.

I wanted to thank you for making fine products that are designed for competitive shooters.

My scores took a significant jump when I started using your uppers and barrels.

I also know that you have sponsored matches in my area and want to say thanks for giving back to the shooting community.

You had asked me to let you guys know when I achieved Master (with the WOA upper I bought in 2010).  I am happy to report I received my new classification card in the mail over the weekend (attached).  Thanks for the great product and service!

Congratulations to Tim Klauer, the 2012 Illinois Open Highpower Champion.
That's Tim on the right accepting the award.  Congratulations Tim!

Congrats to our own John Holliger!

Over the Memorial Day weekend John participated in a shoot in Lodi, Wisconsin and took High Service Rifle.   The Illinois State Gold team also won the 4-Man Team match.  The team is coached by Konrad Powers and the other team members shooting alongside John included customers Tim Klauer, Clifford Adams and Derek Dattner.

Another customer emailed the following note and picture after receiving his White Oak Varmint Upper.  Nice shooting, Paul.

Hi John,
I just want to thank you for building me such a fine upper, it's the .223 varmint upper 20 inch barrel, 1 in 12 twist. I took her to the range today for the first time, and she's a shooter, the first load I tried was a 50gr Vmax behind 25grs H335, WW cases, and BR-4 primers, COAL is 2.225. There was a strong cross wind (15-18mph) from the south/west, my target was due east, 140 yrds. I put the cross hairs dead center, but I think the wind was blowing those 50 gr bullets to the left. I attached a target for you to see, it's no brag, you could do that with your eyes closed, but for ME it's great, this is the upper I've been dreaming about, I can't wait for a calm day to see what she will do, and Im going to try some other bullets, and powders as well, as I said this is just my first load. The target has 12 shots in it, I have another one with 15 shots in it just as good, but I would have to send it in a seperate email, and I don't want to clog up your inbox. You do GREAT work.
Paul

Tom in Minnesota recently purchased a White Oak Adjustable Buttstock and is having great results.  According to Tom,

Hi John,

I just wanted to let you know the White Oak adjustable buttstock rates right up there with a good match trigger for getting improved scores.

After spending almost $300.00 on other cheaper products I finally spent $425.00 for one of yours. That along with the match rifle upper I bought from you has made a very competitive gun.   My offhand scores have improved and it just makes a good looking rifle. Thanks for a well engineered and machined product.

Thanks for the compliments Tom!

Our customer Tim used a White Oak SPR Mid-gas Barrel for his 3-gun build, with great results.  He writes:

I upgraded my 3 Gun rifle with a White Oak Armament 18" SPR Match Midlength Gas System last year when I noticed a degradation in the performance of the barrel that had come with my rifle. The results were fantastic! I was able to get to sub 1" groups through my 1-4 power optic at 100 yards with 69grn Sierra Match King projectiles. I have been shooting this barrel a lot in 3 gun competitions, and it has remained accurate even after some pretty long and abusive rifle stages.

Thanks Tim, and keep up the good shooting!

A customer sent this picture and note from a hog hunt in
Texas with his White Oak 6.8 Varmint Upper.

Hey John, ... this picture of me with a hog we shot in TX
yesterday. Upper performed flawlessly when I did my part.
Nice 200 lb sow. Notice the green light we shot her in the dark and that is legal in TX, what a great state.

December 22, 2011

One of our customers sent us this video of himself shooting the sitting rapid fire stage at an NRA High Power match, accompanied by this email:

Hey John,

I think you guys sold me the magic barrel.  I screwed in the new match barrel on your WOA match rifle Thursday.  Got the sights sorted out Friday afternoon, and shot a 787 on Saturday.  That's the highest agg score ever for me.  The first 10 at 600 was a 100-6x.  For a relatively inexpensive off the shelf .223 barrel that's amazing.  Keep up the good work.

North Carolina Area Shooters Thank White Oak for their Support this Season.

Dear John and the crew at White Oak Armament:

Just wanted to say thank you again for your continued support of our Junior High Power Program and the Daniel Lucas Elliott Memorial 300 Yard High Power State Championship and Reid Perry Memorial 300 Yard Midrange Prone State Championship . . .

I have included a little thank you note that some of the competitors and match volunteers signed.  Interestingly, this year, all of the prizes went to junior shooters as the adults that won them all donated them back to the kids . . .

On behalf of Catawba Valley Rifle and Pistol Club, NCRPA and Lake Norman High Power Club, I thank you for your support.

John Friguglietti
LNHPC, VP

We have a soft spot for Junior shooters and are glad to know they are getting such great support from the adults in the NC area!

November 8, 2011

It always brightens our day to get reports back from customers when they are successful with our products.  We received one such note from Brian Murphy recently.  Short and to the point, he wrote . . .

Please thank John for the barrel. I got the rifle put together and won the first match I shot. 789-24X at Nashua Fish & Game in New Hampshire on the 15th of October.

Congratulations Brian.   He has promised us even better scores next year!

October 25, 2011

17 year old junior shooter Nash Neubauer is having a great year!  He went distinguished this year and was top intermediate Junior in the NRA National Service Rifle Championships.  Nash has been using a White Oak Armament Service Rifle upper and Geissele trigger since his first match 5-1/2 years ago.

Here Nash is receiving his top Intermediate Junior plaque and medallion at the NRA awards ceremony at Camp Perry.

Nash then shot this target in September at the ISRA range in the 300 yd rapid fire prone portion of the Illinois Short Course Championships.  Nash won the master class in that match with a 784-29x.

Carl Bernosky wins 2011 NRA National High Power Rifle Championship with his White Oak Upper

Carl had another impressive win at Camp Perry.  He finished the championship with a final aggregate score of 2393-160x.

In accomplishing this, Carl tied a National Record for slow fire standing from 200 yards. The record, a 200-15x, was originally set by Gary Anderson in 1971 in the Navy Cup.  No one ever thought this record would be matched.

In addition to winning the overall high power rifle championship, Bernosky also took top honors in the following matches: the Erdman Trophy Match (596-31x); the Nevada Trophy Match (798-42x); the Clarke Trophy Match (799-63x); the Marine Gunner D.I. Boyd II Memorial Trophy Match (1195-76x); the Scott Trophy Match (200-15x); the Appreciation Cup Match (200-18x); the Crescent Cup Match (200-15x) and the Crowell Trophy Match (200-17x).

White Oak's own John Holliger was a member of the winning Illinois Gold team

The high civilian team award, the Soldier of Marathon Trophy, was captured by Illinois State Gold (2895-85X).  All members of the team were shooting White Oak uppers.  Firing members included John Holliger, Konrad Powers, Derek Dattner, Kenneth Mahl, Tim Klauer and Clifford Adams.

The White Oak trailer was upgraded with graphics prior to Camp Perry.

You may have noticed the White Oak trailer at Camp Perry with it's new look.   Graphics were added to the trailer this year.  Unfortunately the spiffy new looks didn't prevent it from having a flat tire on the way home!

July 3, 2011

While there are lots of shooters putting our Service Rifle uppers to good use, don't forget about the match rifles.

Hey John,
I took the Match rifle you built for me to the range Friday. It was the first time I had it out at distance after getting the stock positions all sorted out.
Man this rifle is CRAZY! accurate. This target is a 600 yard reduced target I shot at 300 yards with a sling, iron sights, and my middle aged eyes. I was shooting Sierra Match Kings 80 gr bullets, 23.5 gr of Reloader 15, and federal match 205 primers. The two pasters are sighting shots. I called the 10. Its a legitimate 100-9x. I fired a 792 cross course that day. Total shooting nirvana.

Thanks,
Dr Carl Weston

We certainly get plenty of experienced shooters letting us know about their success with our products, but we also enjoy hearing from newer competitors like the e-mail we recently received from Mark.

I want to thank you for making a great service rifle.  I have never shot any rifle competitions except for one John Garand match a few years ago. I received your match upper about 4 weeks ago and shot it only two times prior to the June 12, 2011 NRA XTC match at Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club in Jacksonville FL. In the 3rd stage 300yd rapid fire I scored a perfect 100-4X in my first ever high power event.

A new customer forever,

Mark Gamblin

June 5, 2011

Longtime WOA customer Jeff Marienthal has cleaned 300 rapid fire before, but never like this.

In a 50 shot match at the Milan Rifle Club, Jeff put into practice what he has been teaching in the CMP SDM program. He executed the basics and came up with the great group you see on the left.

In case anyone is curious, the first 8 shots out of Jeff's rifle were all X's.

June 4, 2011

Here in Illinois the competition at highpower matches is pretty stiff. It's even tougher at a state championship.

On a hot and humid day Derek Dattner won the 2011 IL Open Highpower Championship. Beating the best service rifle and match rifle shooters in the state, Derek shot a new record score for this championship of 791-33x.

That's Derek on the left in his trademark Winnie the Pooh t-shirt accepting the Bjornstad Trophy from Milan Rifle Club's Zac Sopher.

Here is an e-mail we received from another member of the California Grizzlies Junior Rifle Team. Looks like Sagen is another rising talent from the west coast that we'll be looking out for.

Dear White Oak,

I ordered a complete upper for my rifle at Perry this year.  I had been having a huge amount of problems with another barrel I was using.  I thought each rifle acted kind a like the one I was using but not White Oak.  The first time I shot my new White Oak was during a practice at our one hundred yard range.  I set up in prone with my gear with dad behind to watch for impact to sight it in.  My first shot I could not believe what I saw in my scope!  An X.  I called it good and it was good.  I cleaned that string in prone and my next.  And off hand I shot a ninety-nine with six X.  At Perry I beat my coach Robert Taylor II with a borrowed White Oak.

I will always shoot your barrels.  Always.  Thank you for an awesome barrel, see you at Perry next year!

Sagen

October 30, 2010

If you follow highpower you have probably heard about the success of the California Grizzlies Junior Rifle Team. Recently one of their members sent us an e-mail about his performance at Camp Perry. Great shooting Chad!

Dear White Oak Armament,

I am Chad Kurgan of the California Grizzlies Junior Rifle Team.

First I would like to thank you for your sponsorship to the team and for your outstanding WOA AR-15 service rifle upper. I had a successful last year as a Junior at Camp Perry's 2010 National Rifle and Pistol Championships using your upper. On the last day and final match of the 2010 NRA Highpower Rifle Championships I fired a score of 200-11X at 600 yards using the .223 AR-15 Service Rifle. It was my first 200/200 score at 600 yards that also helped me achieve the 2010 Jackson Arms Trophy and High Power Junior Service Rifle Championship. My achievements also included the Illinois Trophy for High Civilian Service Rifle in the Centenary Trophy Aggregate (600 yards) with a score of 595-27X.

Thank you for all of your precision work in your product. I will continue to use your product because it allows me to perform my best in Highpower Rifle Competition.

 Sincerely,

Chad Kurgan

September 10, 2010

Konrad Powers put his White Oak upper to good use as he successfully defended his status as Illinois Service Rifle Champion and Illinois Short Course Champion.

On September 4, Konrad shot a 790-31x to win his third state Service Rifle Championship.

Three weeks later Konrad won his sixth Short Course Championship by shooting a 785-36x. This just edged out WOA's own John Holliger by a single point.

August 13, 2010

Congratulations to Bob Ward of Massachusetts for being the 2010 NRA Highpower Senior National Champion. Bob fired an excellent 2376-81x over four days of competition using his 6mm RAT.

John,

Enclosed is a picture of me with your White Oak upper, your adjustable stock, and the 6mm barrel that you installed. This combination enabled me to shoot an average of 98.6 over the course of the summer at our major matches here in the Northeast, with an average of 99 percent at Camp Perry. The scores at Perry were good enough to capture the High Senior trophy plaque in the picture and even better to best the high score on the Townsend Whelen trophy by 18 points.

Thanks Again for the quality work you have done for me.

Sincerely,
Bob Ward
